City Warfare – Foursquare Location-Based Virtual Water Fight Game Wins UK Student International Award by Rob Nichols (Thursday, July 1. 2010): "NakdReality sponsored this competition to help stimulate innovation among location apps..."
Water balloon war hits foursquare (Tuesday, June 29. 2010): "City Warfare, the winner of the 2010 LocationWild competition, has been released..."
London, United Kingdom - June 30, 2010.
The worldwide startup competition, Location Wild, was just won by 19 year old Thomas Fletcher of Bath University, who received $2,500 and an iPad.
Location Wild was a week-long competition to develop the most interesting location-based app as judged by Direction Magazine's Adena Schutzberg, The Next Web's Chad Catacchio, Slashdot's Rob Malda, and TechCrunch's Erick Schonfeld.
The winning app was City Warfare, which is a text-based game played in real-world locations against other players, where the aim is to cause mayhem using virtual waterbombs and waterpistols; it works on the back of Foursquare, a location-based social network.
Thomas Fletcher commented: "The timing was good because I had just finished the last of my exams, and I thought, 'Why not spend a week giving this a go?'"
Location Wild was organised and sponsored by NakdReality, a newly launched location search and augmented reality service provider based in London, UK.
Paula Abrahamson, CEO of NakdReality, said "NakdReality sponsored this competition to help stimulate innovation among location apps, and we're very happy to see a young British student win the competition."
"What's cool about this winning app" she continued, "is that it takes Foursquare's application on a tangent by involving other social networkers in a game of virtual water-warfare."--------------

Location-based App Contest LocationWild Starts Saturday by Adam DuVander (Friday, May 28. 2010): "Wait, did you geocode your marks? I hope so, because you only have the next week to enter the Location Wild Competition from NakdReality..."
London, United Kingdom - May 25, 2010.
Location Wild is a worldwide startup competition to create the most interesting location-based application in a week, starting Saturday, May 29. Developers and entrepreneurs have until the following Saturday, June 5, to submit their applications online to locationwild.com and compete for the prize of $2,500 and an iPad.
The location-based applications must use the services of either NakdReality or SimpleGeo, which both offer "plug-and-play" location technology, allowing participants to develop their applications quickly.
The judges are TechCrunch's Erick Schonfeld, Slashdot's Rob Malda, Direction Magazine's Adena Schutzberg, and The Next Web's Chad Catacchio.
"Location-based technologies are getting increasing attention worldwide, so we felt the time was right to showcase how easy it has become to create a winning startup in this space," says Paula Abrahamson, CEO of NakdReality and co-ordinator of Location Wild.
"We'd love to see something as wildly popular as FourSquare come out of this competition," she continues.
NakdReality and SimpleGeo are independent companies, but both use Amazon's computing cloud infrastructure to deliver scalable location-based infrastructure to third party developers and entrepreneurs.

London, United Kingdom - March 31, 2010.
NakdReality is a new location search service which allows anyone to quickly create their own location-based or augmented-reality search, without having to hire specialist developers.
"NakdReality is for organizations who are frustrated with the time and cost of developing and running their own augmented reality or location search," says Paula Abrahamson, CEO of NakdReality.
"Location technology, from geolocation capabilities to augmented reality, is developing fast, and people are now looking for ways to make their location-based information searchable. People are discovering it is harder than it looks, so we aim to take the pain out of providing this location search capability."
"We're proud of the fact that our search engines are 100% open source," continues Paula. "Going with a closed, location infrastructure provider would represent much more of a business risk for clients."
NakdReality offers a point-of-interest service which is free with revenue share voucher advertising. In addition to this, it is offering two more advanced location engines: category search, and keyword search.
NakdReality's engines are 100% open source, so NakdReality has no service lock-in or data lock-in.
